NEWS & NOTES

Restaurant Fire

It is with great sadness that we must announce the destruction of the Restaurant and Conference Centre building that was such a big part of our operation and history here at Anglin Lake. Debbie Greening first added the Snail's Pace Cafe to the Jacobsen Bay Outfitters operation back in 1985 as a tiny sixteen seet dining room above the general store at that time. In 1998 we opened a brand new one hundred seat restaurant with meeting facilities and a forty seat deck over looking the lake. A great many people have special memories of the location and we have been host to more weddings, reunions, retreats and conferences than we can count. Thank you so much to all who wrote and called in support and to share some of your memories of this special "friend" we have lost. We continue to operate our accommodation and retail operations here and hope to be able to offer the dining experience that people had come to love again some time in the future.

New Highway

Construction on Highway #953 to Anglin Lake was completed this spring and Saskatchewan Highways invested $4,000,000.00 in this project. The small secondary highway connection Highway #2 to Anglin Lake had fallen into disrepair in the last few years and was a major issue for cottage owners and visiting guests. We are thrilled to finally have a nice new highway to our operation!

New Store

Our new Jacobsen Bay Store location is operational and the feedback has been great. The store and rental office is now located right at the beach and boat launch southwest of the Land of the Loon Conference Centre and is an ideal location for visitors by land AND sea (well, lake at least). We are looking forward to the 2013 season in this location.

New Cellular Service

SaskTel has completed construction of the Anglin Lake 3G tower and mobile service is already better than ever. We expect further upgrades to signal strength, but even as is there has been a 3 bar increase in service at the lake. Great news!
